What changes, and when
The date is on Arc's own site.
- December 22, 2026: Arc is sunsetting. You can no longer use it on macOS or Windows, and Arc accounts are deactivated. Arc says accounts close Dec 22 and data is deleted within 30 days, so save your Boosts before then.
- What the export keeps: Arc's export saves your tabs as a list of links.
- What moves to Dia: Arc's list names logins, extensions, Spaces, Favorites, Pinned Tabs and Folders. It does not name Boosts.
So we plan as if Boosts stay behind. Copy them out before December 22, while Arc still opens.
The free fix first
If your Boost only changes how a site looks, you may not need us.
- Moving to Zen: the free arc-to-zen tools on GitHub (by jag-k and by NosefU) copy Boost CSS into Zen's own Boosts. They leave out the JavaScript.
- Zen 1.20 and later also has its own free Boosts for styles.
- Any browser: install a free style extension like Stylus, make a new style for the site, and paste in the Boost's CSS. That is all a CSS Boost is.
Send us the ones these cannot do: Boosts with JavaScript, or a move to Chrome, Edge, Brave or Dia.
Free tool: our Boost converter on GitHub (MIT), if you want to do it yourself.
How to copy a Boost out of Arc
- In Arc, open the site the Boost runs on.
- Open the Boost in Arc's Boost editor.
- Copy its CSS, and its JS if it has any.
- Write down the site it runs on and the Boost's name.
- Paste them into a note, one Boost at a time.
Nothing to install and no files from your Mac. That note is what you send us, and it is a good backup either way.
What you get back
- A userscript for Tampermonkey or Violentmonkey. It adds the CSS as the page starts and runs the JS when the page is ready.
- A small unpacked extension for Chrome, Edge, Brave or Dia, with no extra permissions. You load it once from the extensions page.
- A short readme for both.
The limits, in plain words
- Tested on a fake page, not a real browser. Our converter passed its tests on a small fake page, not in Tampermonkey or Chrome. The first free Boost is our real test of yours.
- Which pages it runs on. We match the site and its subdomains. If your Boost was meant for only part of a site, tell us.
- Timing can differ. A Boost that races the page's own scripts may need a small tweak.
-
Arc-only parts. Arc's color palettes,
--arc-*CSS variables and zaps from the simple editor are not plain CSS or JS. We tell you before you pay. - You install them. We send files. We never log in to anything of yours.
