A Fresha Book now button on your own website, and when the 20% new client fee still applies
A Fresha Book now button is a plain link. Copy it from Online presence, then Direct links, and paste it into a button on your site. Fresha's pricing page says you are not charged for new clients who find you through your own website. The catch: if a new client looked at your Fresha marketplace profile first, Fresha charges its one-time 20% new client fee, with a $6 minimum, even when they book on your site.
Add the button in 4 steps
These are Fresha's own steps, from its Create direct links page, for Fresha on a desktop browser.
- From the main menu on the left, go to Online presence.
- In the left menu panel, select Direct links. You see two kinds. Standard links are made for you and stay the same. Custom links are ones you make, for one service, one location or one stylist.
- On the link you want, click the arrow next to Open link and choose Copy link.
- In your website builder, add a button and paste the link as its destination. That is all Fresha's help page asks for. It gives no code to embed.
If your site takes plain HTML, the button is one line. Put your copied link where it says to:
<a href="PASTE-YOUR-FRESHA-LINK-HERE">Book online</a>
Before you publish, click Open link in Fresha. It shows the exact page your clients will see.
Three more links worth making:
- One per stylist. Make a Book appointments link, click Edit next to Team members, and pick the stylist. Clients see that person at the top of the page.
- One for your best service. Tick only that service, or a whole category. New services in that category join the link by themselves.
- A QR code for the door. On any link, choose Copy QR code, then Copy or Download. Fresha suggests business cards, flyers or your salon window.
You can change a custom link at any time and the address stays the same, so the button on your site keeps working.
When the 20% new client fee applies
Fresha's US pricing page says the marketplace new client fee is a "20% one-time commission" with a "Minimum fee of $6 per client". Its new client fee page says when it applies:
| The client | New client fee? |
|---|---|
| Found you on the Fresha marketplace and booked there | Yes, once |
| Saw your Fresha marketplace profile first, then booked through your website or Instagram | Yes, once. Fresha counts where they found you |
| Found you through your own website, Instagram or Facebook | No, says Fresha's pricing page |
| Already in your Clients list, typed in or imported | No |
| Says at booking that they visited you before | No |
| Returning for a second visit | No, never |
A quick sum: a new client from the marketplace books an $80 color. The fee is 20% of $80, so $16. A $25 fringe trim would be $5 at 20%, so the $6 minimum applies. Fresha bases the fee on what the client booked online, not on products or services your team adds at checkout, and not on tips.
From the same page, the rules that surprise people:
- If you or your team cancel for the client, the fee still applies. If the client cancels online in their Fresha account, Fresha holds the fee and charges it on their next booking.
- A no-show costs no fee if you mark it as a no-show on the same day.
- An appointment you never check out still gets the fee.
- The fee is non-refundable.
To keep regulars from counting as new: Fresha's own tip is to import all your existing clients before you list on the marketplace, merge duplicate client profiles, and send your regulars the right booking link.
If the button does not work
- The link says Unavailable. Fresha says this happens when none of the locations in the link are listed on the marketplace. List at least one, and the link works again by itself.
- The link says Set up. Something it needs is missing, for example no location listed yet, or no membership made for a memberships link.
- You unlisted your marketplace profile. Then no button works. Fresha: "To take bookings online through Fresha via your website and social media pages, your profile must be listed on the Marketplace." Unlisting turns off all your online booking channels. So you cannot keep the button and skip the marketplace.
- You deleted a custom link. Fresha says it still works, but it opens your full menu instead of the one service. Archived links also keep working, but stop counting views, bookings and sales.
If you do not have a website yet
Fresha sells its own, called Smart Website. Its US pricing page lists it at $15.95 monthly. Fresha says it stays in sync with your services, team and reviews, and can use your own domain. If you cancel, Fresha says the site goes unpublished when the paid period ends, and a domain you bought through Fresha stops renewing.
Brass tacks: Brasspage sells salon websites too. On our salon website page, the Book online button opens your Fresha link, and the site lives on your own domain. You see a free demo first, then it is $299 to launch and $29 a month. Fresha's fees stay between you and Fresha. If Smart Website fits you, you do not need me.
What I did not check
- The dashboard itself. I have no Fresha account. Every step here is Fresha's own words, read on October 30, 2026. The help pages show no edit date.
- How Fresha knows where a client found you. Fresha says it tracks the client's online activity. It does not say how, and I did not test it.
- The fee cap. Fresha says the fee has a maximum cap for higher-value services. Its pricing page does not show the amount.
- Prices outside the US. I read the US pricing page. Other countries show other prices.
Questions people ask
How do I add a Fresha Book now button to my website?
In Fresha, go to Online presence, then Direct links. Click the arrow next to Open link on the link you want and choose Copy link. Then add a button in your website builder and paste the link as its destination.
Do I pay Fresha's new client fee when someone books from my website?
Not when they found you through your own website, Instagram or Facebook. Fresha's help page says the fee still applies if a new client looked at your Fresha marketplace profile first and then booked through your website.
How much is Fresha's new client fee?
Fresha's US pricing page says 20% one-time commission, with a minimum fee of $6 per client. It is charged once, on the first booking, and never on returning clients. Fresha says there is also a cap for higher-value services, but the pricing page does not show the cap.
Can I turn off the Fresha marketplace and keep my booking button?
No. Fresha says your profile must be listed on the marketplace to take bookings online through your website and social media pages. Unlisting the profile turns off all your online booking channels.
Why does my Fresha link say Unavailable?
Fresha says a link is Unavailable when none of the locations it covers are listed on the marketplace. List at least one location and the link works again by itself.
